Dr. Samantha Herrera is very kind and patient. She is detailed oriented and dedicates a lot of time to each one of her patients. You may notice that when you are in an appointment with Dr. Samantha that she is 100% focused on you and your pet.
Dr. Samantha graduated from Creighton University with her Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Biology. She knew she desired to work in the medical field and found joy in being able to assist others in meeting their goals of return to sport, life, and function following an injury, no matter their age. Dr. Samantha found her love for physical therapy through an internship during her undergraduate degree. She then pursued her passion by continuing her education at Creighton University to graduate with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Dr. Samantha spent seven years treating the human population, from pediatrics to geriatric in the outpatient and home health settings. She even worked as an on-set physical therapist for Netflix assisting actors between takes. Dr. Herrera enjoyed treating the pediatric and adolescent population the most, further honing in her observation and creative clinical reasoning skills to make treatment sessions both fun and functional for the kids.
Dr. Samantha has always had an interest in working with animals as she has always had them present in her family. She became interested in pursuing animal rehab after assisting her family dog through its physical therapy exercises following a TPLO surgery. She knew this could also be a part of her practice as a physical therapist and started her canine rehab certification through the Canine Rehab Institute. Dr. Herrera completed this certification just before moving back to Colorado to be closer to her family. She completed an internship at Walking Paws Rehab with Dr. Rebecca Hall and Kerry Kilgannon and fell in love with the practice. The team at Walking Paws Rehab were impressed by her expertise, knowledge, dedication to learning, and professionalism. Therefore, she was recruited onto the team.
Dr. Samantha Herrera enjoys spending time with her partner and three dogs at home, taking time for photography adventures, hiking, drawing, and sitting down with a good book when she isn’t at work. Just as when she practiced with humans, Dr. Herrera loves to see your pet achieve the goals set out for them to return to doing the things they love. She will use her creativity and energy to help get them there. With impeccable manners and great professionalism, we guarantee that you will enjoy an appointment with Dr. Samantha Herrera.
